Work Status Notes and Light Duty: What They Mean
A work status note is the provider's written statement of what you can and cannot do at work right now. Light duty means working within those restrictions.
What the note includes
The date, your restrictions such as lifting limits or no overhead work, and when you will be re-examined.
What light duty means
Work that fits inside the restrictions on the note. Whether such work is available is up to your employer.
How it changes
The note is updated at follow-up visits as you improve, so your employer always has current restrictions in writing.
Your part
Give the note to your employer, keep a copy, and tell the provider if the work you are given goes beyond the restrictions.
